If the Bible were a mountain, atop it is Jesus' cross, explained by John and the other three gospels. If you have completed the study on the Gospel of John, congratulations, for you have visited the mountaintop.
What's next?
Imagine you're at the
foot of Jesus' cross after the Roman soldier speared His side
to confirm that He has died (see
Blood and Water). You can look up at His
body hanging on the cross, nod in acknowledgement that you now know why He
sacrificed Himself, then brush
past the cross, go down the mountain, and return to your life as before.
Or, you can wrap your arms around His cross, crumble to the ground in a heap of tears, bewail and repent of your sins that nailed Him to it, have them be washed away by His blood dripping from above, and then love, worship and serve Him as your Lord and Savior the rest of your life.
There is no third option. The choice is between you and Jesus, who stands before you, but it is one that cannot be avoided: one leads to eternity in hell with Satan; the other, to eternity in heaven with Jesus.
Which will it be?
