ACTS CHAPTER 9
Acts 9:24-31 Saul Escapes in a Basket

Acts 9:32-35 Lydda

Acts 9:36-40 Dorcas
ACTS 9:32  32 Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda.

Where is "Lydda" (Acts 9:32)?
Lydda is a town located about 35 kilometers (22 miles) northwest of Jerusalem and 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the Mediterranean Sea. Lydda is in the coastal plain and is now called by its Arabic name, Lod.

Who are "saints" (Acts 9:32)?
See saints.

Why did Peter go through "all parts of the country" (Acts 9:32)?
The Jewish Christians who scattered from Jerusalem had established churches throughout Israel and were multiplying in number - "Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied" (Acts 9:31) - so he was visiting and ministering to them, and was soon to be used by God to initiate the evangelization of the gentiles.

ACTS 9:33-35  33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. 34 And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately. 35 So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.

Why was Aeneas healed?
To restore his health but also to make the people in the region - "all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon" (Acts 9:35) - turn towards the Lord.

Where is "Sharon" (Acts 9:35)?
Sharon is the name of the coastal plain in which Lydda is located.

Did Peter heal Aeneas?
No, “Jesus the Christ” (Acts 9:34) healed him.
