Praising God

Leaping and Praising God

Praising God
ACTS 3 COMMENTARY

Acts 3:8-12 Praising God

Acts 3:13-21 God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
ACTS 3:8-10  8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them - walking, leaping, and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

What did the lame man do immediately after being healed?
He walked into the temple with Peter and John, "walking, leaping, and praising God" (Acts 3:8).

Did the crowd take notice?
"All the people saw him walking and praising God" (Acts 3:9).

How did they react?
The donors don't seems to have asked him for their money back even though "they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple were filled with wonder and amazement" (Acts 3:10).

How did this healing serve God's purpose?
It showed His mercy on a lame man, He received praise, and He gathered an audience for Peter's sermon to follow.

ACTS 3:11  11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed.

What was the "porch which is called Solomon’s" (Acts 3:11)?
See Solomon's Porch.

What does this imply about the timing?
They were now outside the temple, so it was after the ninth hour (3 PM) prayer.

ACTS 3:12  12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

To whom did the crowd attribute the miracle?
To Peter and John: "Men of Israel... why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?" (Acts 3:12)
